David Logar was born into  a very loving family, the youngest of eight children.   Dave went to Rowan University, where  he was named 1st Team  All Conference and 1st Team All Region his sophomore year.  However, Dave was soon faced with a challenge  far greater than anything he ever encountered on a soccer field.
On July 13th, 1995 Dave's whole life was changed forever.  Dave was struck head on
by a car while using a leaf blower he carried on his back.  Upon impact, the handle on top
of the blower crushed his 4th and 5th cervical vertebrae and his limp body was thrown
40 feet in the air.
Dave was sent to Cooper immediately, and when doctors were asked what his condition was, "not good" was the response.   But Dave continued to fight, to be determined, like he always had on the soccer field.  Dave persevered through his time at Cooper, and was eventually sent to Jefferson, and then Magee Rehabilitation Center.
Growing up, Dave had always coached and mentored younger kids in the neighborhood.  After his accident, Dave brought a new message to the students at Parkway Elementary School.  Don't let anyone tell you what you can't do.  Dave had a quote from Henry Ford in his room, "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off of your goals."
At the age of 22, Dave eventually passed away from a complication to his injuries,
but his positive attitude, determination to fight, and desire to help others has stayed
with all of us through the years.
